On the second floor, the bays gave space for Renee's dressing table on one side and two very comfortable chairs on the other. As with the furnishings of Chateau La Cage, many of the furnishings of this delightful second home came from the big house.

The handsome mahogany turn-of-the-century bed and matching side tables were refinished in a light cream color like the walls and ceiling. These bedroom pieces looked right at home in this grand little Victorian bedroom. The comfortable upholstered chairs were new, but Paul and Suzanne wanted to show that a mix of new and old furnishings was very workable. It allowed them the comfort they desired and yet be surrounded by a sense of history.

The impressive coffered ceiling of the bedroom, like the beautiful fireplace downstairs, seemed overly grand for such a small space but Suzanne loved it, especially after it was painted. When Paul suggested adding another architectural element to the space above the windows, she agreed. The unusual deep cornice was actually part of a railing removed from a second floor balcony on the back side of the big house.

The lovely chandeliers on both floors were copies of lighting fixtures found in the main house.
